      Low-Altitude Economy Soars: Smart Lamp Pole Screens Create a New 3D Linkage Ecosystem

      In the early morning of Shenzhen Nanshan Science Park, a Meituan drone formation was taking off in an orderly manner from the landing platform on the roof of the office building, delivering steaming breakfast to the science park 3 kilometers away. This scene is a microcosm of the booming low-altitude economy in my country. According to the "China Low-altitude Economic Development Report 2024", the market size of my country's low-altitude economy has exceeded 800 billion yuan, and there are more than 15,000 drone companies. Application scenarios such as low-altitude tourism, air logistics, and emergency rescue are accelerating. Shenzhen, Chengdu, Qingdao and other 15 cities took the lead in carrying out low-altitude open pilot projects. Beijing Yizhuang New Town has designated 200 square kilometers of drone-controlled airspace to release space dividends for industrial development.

      The take-off of the low-altitude economy faces unique challenges: there was an incident in Shanghai Hongqiao Business District where a drone accidentally entered the civil aviation route, exposing the lack of refined airspace management; in Chongqing's mountainous terrain, drone signals are often blocked by high-rise buildings, resulting in a 12% deviation rate in the delivery route. These problems highlight the urgency of building an air-ground collaborative management system, and the smart lamp pole screens that are spread all over the streets and alleys of the city are becoming the key hub to solve the problem.

      In the Xinglong Lake Scenic Area in Tianfu New District, Chengdu, more than 200 sets of smart lamp pole screens are playing multiple roles. The UWB positioning base station integrated in the screen tracks the positions of 500 sightseeing drones in the scenic area in real time, and the edge computing module automatically generates a safe flight path.       As a new type of smart city infrastructure, smart lamp pole screens have unique advantages: the meteorological sensors carried can collect data such as wind speed and air pressure in real time to provide environmental parameters for drone flights. The deployed 5G micro base station realizes the blind spot of low-altitude communication network, reducing the drone communication delay from 200ms to 50ms in Shenzhen Futian Central District. The AI visual recognition system can automatically capture "illegal" drones and build a full-area supervision network with electronic fence technology.       In Qingdao Jiaodong Airport Economic Zone, the smart lamp pole screen has created a new logistics model of "screen-network integration". 150 sets of lamp pole screens are integrated with RFID readers. When JD Logistics drones arrive at the delivery point, they automatically identify the ground receiving device and trigger the screen to display the pickup code. The environmental monitoring equipment on the screen broadcasts temperature and humidity in real time, providing transportation environment data for fresh cold chain drones. This linkage mode has increased the success rate of drone delivery from 82% to 95%, and shortened the delivery time by 18%. In the low-altitude tourism scene in Lijiang, Yunnan, the lamp pole screen dynamically displays the weather information and tour routes of the Yulong Snow Mountain airspace, and with the AR navigation function, the tourists' flight experience satisfaction has increased by 60%.

      Xiongan New Area is piloting a low-altitude management system based on digital twins: through 127 parameters such as geographic information, meteorological data, and crowd density collected by the lamp pole screen, a 1:1 three-dimensional low-altitude digital model is constructed. When Baidu Apollo drones plan flight routes, the system automatically avoids high-rise shadow areas and crowded areas in the virtual model, reducing flight energy consumption by 25% and shortening route planning time from 15 seconds to 3 seconds. This green energy solution enables the lamp pole screen at the take-off and landing point of the drone to achieve "self-powered", solving the power supply problem for low-altitude economic applications in remote areas. The practice of Chengdu East New District shows that this model reduces the operating cost of the lamp pole screen by 40% and carbon emissions by 65%.

      With the release of the "White Paper on the Development of Low-altitude Economy", my country is accelerating the formulation of low-altitude classification management rules, and the role of smart lamp pole screens will be further highlighted. It is suggested to deepen the application from three aspects: first, establish a unified low-altitude data interaction platform across the country to achieve seamless connection between lamp pole screen data and air traffic control systems and enterprise platforms; second, promote the formulation of "one pole for multiple uses" standards, and reserve interfaces such as drone communication and charging in the design of lamp pole screens; third, explore the "market-oriented allocation of airspace resources" mechanism, publish real-time airspace usage information through lamp pole screens, and guide drones to fly in an orderly manner.

      When Shenzhen's drones fly through the rows of smart lamp poles, and when Qingdao's low-altitude visitors look down at the linked screen network matrix from the air, we see not only technological progress, but also a paradigm shift in urban development. As the ground fulcrum of the low-altitude economy, the smart lamp pole screen is transforming the three-dimensional space below 1,000 meters into a new track for innovative development. With the continuous improvement of the air-ground collaborative network, the low-altitude economy will surely break through the development bottleneck of "visible but unreachable" and fly to a broader future in the three-dimensional network woven by the smart lamp pole screen. This is not only an innovative practice of "three-dimensional utilization of urban space", but also a Chinese solution to contribute to the development of the global low-altitude economy.
